Among all the reasons to get excited about when a new feature film from Pixar is released, one of the things I like the most is the fact that we also get a new short film from the pioneering animation studio. A number of these shorts were released on DVD in 2006 and it looks as if the studio is gearing up for a companion volume in the near future.<\/p>\n
The Pixar blog A113 Animation<\/a> (named after the Cal Arts classroom where many of Pixar\u2019s animators first studied their craft), had a chance to talk with Enrico Casarosa, director of Pixar\u2019s newest short La Luna<\/strong> which is scheduled to be paired with this summer\u2019s Brave<\/strong> and Chris Wiggum of Pixar’s publicity department, and they indicated that a follow up video release of some of the studio\u2019s short films was in the works.<\/p>\n A113 Animation: Mm, it\u2019ll be on the DVD for Brave hopefully? It should be interesting to see what other shorts will be showing up on this new release. The first volume featured 13 shorts ranging from 1984\u2019s The Adventures Of Andre And Wally B<\/strong>, back when the company was still a part of Lucasfilm, to 2006\u2019s Lifted<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Presumably the new package will contain the six other shorts, including La Luna<\/strong>, produced since 2006 that have appeared in front of Pixar\u2019s features. Of course, only six shorts would make for a rather lean package, so what else is there left for Pixar to add on? Well, there is the new Toy Story<\/strong> short Small Fry<\/strong> which appeared in front of The Muppets<\/strong>, plus the shorts created for the Ratatouille<\/strong>, Wall-E<\/strong> and Up<\/strong> home video releases. That gets us to ten. Perhaps there are some more surprises lurking in Pixar\u2019s vaults. \nChris Wiggum: We haven\u2019t announced that date yet, so, there\u2019ll be an announcement about that coming up in the next, the next few months I would guessed.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
