\"\"Disney has put a halt to pre-production on their planned Snow White reimagination Order Of The Seven<\/strong>. The film, which has been in development for over a decade at the studio, was to reset the classic Snow White fable in Asia, with the dwarves being replaced by Shaolin monks. The film was set to begin production later this summer with Saoirse Ronan set to star and Michael Gracey set to make his directorial debut.<\/p>\n

The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> is quoting unnamed sources inside the studio as the film’s potential cost being the main factor behind the sudden cessation. Although The Avengers<\/strong> is currently tearing up the box office charts, the studio is still smarting from the financial drubbing it took with John Carter<\/strong> earlier this year and the studio brass are apparently rethinking all of their potential expensive tentpole films.<\/p>\n

Although it is not that surprising that Disney is re-evaluating their spending habits, that they moved to shut down this particular film does seem a decision to have come from out of the blue. Only last week the studio had brought on Iron Man<\/strong> scripters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby to do a quick polish.<\/p>\n

Disney has pulled this once before. Last fall they put a temporary stop to the Johnny Depp-starring The Lone Ranger<\/strong> right before cameras were to roll while its director and producer trimmed millions out of its budget. Of course, Disney reconsidered and the film was put back into production. Will the same happen with Order Of The Seven<\/strong>?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
