\"\"Want to know what director Ridley Scott has in mind for his currently in-development sequel to his 1982 classic Blade Runner<\/strong>? Who doesn’t?<\/p>\n

In an interview with Collider<\/a>, the director did let slip one image that he has been playing with for how he might open the film-<\/p>\n

There\u2019ll be a vast farmland where there are no hedges or anything in sight, and it\u2019s flat like the plains of\u2026 Kansas, where you can see for miles. And it\u2019s dirt, but it\u2019s being raked. On the horizon is a combine harvester which is futuristic with klieg lights, \u2018cause it\u2019s dawn. The harvester is as big as six houses.<\/p>\n

In the foreground is a small white clapboard hut with a porch as if it was from Grapes of Wrath. From the right comes a car, coming in about six feet off the ground being chased by a dog. And that\u2019s the end of it, I\u2019m not gonna tell you anything else.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Hmmm… interesting image to say the least. and of course raises the question, who is in that clapboard house? The Grapes Of Wrath<\/em> mention certainly helps to cement a Dust Bowl-type of image in my mind. Well either that or a giant zen garden. But it does stand in sharp contrast to the perpetual rain of the first film’s crowded, dystopian cityscape.<\/p>\n

Of course original Blade Runner<\/strong> screenwriter Hampton Fancher is still writing the script for this new film so it remains to be seen if this image will make it into the finished product. We’ll find out in a couple of years when the film will finally reach theaters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

It’s a setting that actually seems very un-BLADE RUNNER like.<\/div>\n
