That’s it. No colons, hyphens or other punctuations to separate “Star Trek” from “Into Darkness.” Just Star Trek Into Darkness<\/strong>. I’m not sure that I am really a fan of how that all seems to blend into one thought. It just seems to go against the standard naming convention for sequels, so maybe that’s why I am instinctively not really liking it all that month.<\/p>\n

The news for this originated at TrekMovie<\/a>, who claims that they have multiple sources confirming that this is the title that director J J Abrams and Paramount Studios have settled on after testing a number of options, including one which didn’t even have the words Star Trek<\/strong> in the title. Coming Soon<\/a> did some follow up reporting stating that the domain names www.startrekintodarkness.com and www.startrekintodarknessmovie were both registered last Thursday through MarkMonitor, a domain registry service that Paramount has used in the past, most recently for their website for the upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation.<\/p>\n

Speculation is that the studio is still trying to figure out how best to officially roll out the title, though with this news breaking over the weekend, I suspect that they will be in a mad scramble to get it out sooner now. I would expect an official announcement and probably a hastily thrown together title graphic within the week.<\/p>\n

Star Trek Into Darkness stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve and Peter Weller and opens on May 17, 2013.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
