\"\"Roland Emmerich keeps plugging away at a possible pair of sequels to his 1996 alien invasion blockbuster Independence Day<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The two sequels will share a title \u2013 Independence Day Forever<\/strong> \u2013 with a Part One<\/strong> and Part Two<\/strong> tacked on where appropriate. Presumably, the films will be about a second wave of alien invaders who come to Earth, presumably armed with better anti-virus software for their computers than the first wave had.<\/p>\n

Speaking in an interview with the German film site Film Starts<\/a> (via Bleeding Cool<\/a>) the director and co-writer of the original film confirmed that he and co-writer Dean Devlin have a \u201cquite unique\u201d idea for what the two sequels will be but that they are having \u201ca tough battle\u201d in getting everyone involved in the first film back for the sequels.<\/p>\n

This makes a a change from last year<\/a> when Sony seemed to be of the attitude that if Independence Day<\/strong> star Will Smith was unwilling to come back for what they would consider a reasonable paycheck, then they would proceed without him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
