Reeves\u2019s involvement in the project was first revealed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2012\/09\/26\/matt-reeves-exists-twilight-zone-lands-on-short-list-for-dawn-of-the-planet-of-the-apes\/\" target=\"_blank\">last week<\/a> when it was reported that he was on the studio\u2019s shortlist of directors following his leaving Warner Brothers\u2019 <strong>The Twilight Zone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rise<\/strong> director Rupert Wyatt was originally slated to direct <strong>Dawn<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2012\/09\/18\/rupert-wyatt-may-leave-rise-of-the-planet-of-the-apes-sequel\/\" target=\"_blank\">but left<\/a> when he felt that the studio\u2019s mandated May 23, 2014 did not allow for enough time for him to comfortably deliver a film he would be happy with.<\/p>\n<p>Other directors allegedly on Fox\u2019s short list include Rian Johnson (<strong>Looper<\/strong>), Guillermo del Toro (<strong>Pacific Rim<\/strong>), J Blakeson (<strong>The Disappearance Of Alice Creed<\/strong>), Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (<strong>28 Weeks Later<\/strong>), Jeff Nichols (<strong>Take Shelter<\/strong>) and Juan Antonio Bayona (<strong>The Impossible<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rise<\/strong> scripters Rick Jaffa &amp; Amanda Silver have already turned in their draft for <strong>Dawn<\/strong>.
