\"\"<\/a>Let’s start the week off with a bit of speculation, shall we?<\/p>\n

Think its a bit early for speculation about casting for Avengers 2<\/strong>, think again. Over the weekend the London tabloid, the Daily Mail<\/em><\/a> reported that Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada<\/strong>) and Ruth Wilson (the upcoming The Lone Ranger<\/strong>) are both in contention for the role of superhero Ms. Marvel for the sequel to this summer’s blockbuster.<\/p>\n

I suppose that the usual disclaimer about the veracity, or lack thereof, of British tabloids should be mentioned. We’ve seen this type of speculation<\/a> before for the first Avengers<\/strong> film only to have it not pan out.<\/p>\n

But it should be pointed out that Blunt was the first pick to play Black Widow in Iron Man 2<\/strong> before Twentieth Century Fox exercised an option they had on her services and cast her in Guillver’s Travels<\/strong>, so it is possible that Marvel Studios is still looking to work with her. Of course, it could just be a coincidence that the Daily Mail named an actress who had a pre-exisiting relationship with the studio.<\/p>\n

The Mail<\/em> article also states that Avengers 2<\/strong> would begin production at some point next year, which is possible, though at the earliest it would be in the last couple of months to allow the Studio time to finish up shooting Captain America: The Winter Soldier<\/strong> and Guardians Of The Galaxy<\/strong> first.<\/p>\n

Of course, if Marvel is seriously thinking about adding the character to the Avengers 2<\/strong> lineup, they may want to introduce her in another Marvel film first. Given that the character’s background includes some time she was an air force pilot I suppose a case could be made for her popping up briefly in Guardians Of The Galaxy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I am sure that the answers will become apparent at some point as we get closer to The Avengers 2<\/strong> release date of May 2015.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
