That trend continues as three of the seven films on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences shortlist for the Best Visual Effects Academy Award are comic book films.<\/p>\n<p>Batman, Iron Man and Hellboy are facing off against each other as well as Nicole Kidman, Brad Pitt, Brendon Frasier and some rampaging mummies for a chance at Oscar gold. <strong>The Dark Knight<\/strong>, <strong>Iron Man <\/strong>and <strong>Hellboy 2<\/strong> join <strong>Australia<\/strong>, <strong>The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button<\/strong>, <strong>Journey To The Center Of The Earth<\/strong> and <strong>The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor<\/strong> as potential final nominees for the Academy Award. (<strong>Australia<\/strong> and <strong>The Mummy<\/strong>? Really?)<\/p>\n<p>Of the seven films, only three will make it into nomination for voting.
