The post-holiday season doesn’t just signal a lull in promising new films hitting your local theaters, but a lull in promising new films on DVD hitting your favorite retailor’s shelves. That doesn’t mean that there’s absolutely nothing worth checking out, though.<\/p>\n

\"appaloosadvd\"<\/a>First up is Appaloosa<\/strong><\/a>.\"\" They don’t make too many westerns anymore, but this one received some good critical notices. It would be hard not to with Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen headlining.Unfortunately, it didn’t have much of a release or do that well at the box office, so hopefully it will find its audience on home video. Also available on Blu-ray disc<\/a>.\"\"<\/p>\n

\"breakfastdvd\"<\/a>Next up is a new edition of the Audrey Hepburn classic Breakfast At Tiffany’s<\/strong><\/a>.\"\" Paramount’s “Centennial Collection Edition” features eight featurettes, the original trailer and a commentary track from the film’s producer Richard Shepherd. That’s four featurettes and a trailer more than the last time Paramount put this film out on DVD just a few years ago.<\/p>\n

\"mybloodyvalentine\"<\/a>While Friday sees the release of its 3-D update, you can check out the original My Bloody Valentine<\/strong><\/a>\"\"today. OK, it is not quite the original. It actually has had some footage restored that was originally cut for being too gorey when the film released back in 1981. If you’re an ’80s gore hound. This is definitely the release of the week for you. <\/p>\n

\"tokyogorepolice1\"<\/a>If you like your gore with an international flare, than may I recommend Tokyo Gore Police<\/strong><\/a>?\"\"Not for the faint of heart, this is recommended for those of you whose tastes run to the extreme side with films such as The Machine Girl<\/strong><\/a>,\"\"Meatball Machine<\/strong><\/a>\"\" or the films of Takishi Miike.<\/p>\n
