From the 65 eligible films submitted to the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences for consideration for this year&#8217;s Best Foreign Language Feature Academy Award, nine films have been chosen to advance to the next round of voting. Members of the Academy&#8217;s Foreign Language Film Award Executive Committee will view all nine films and then select the five who will be placed in nomination for the Oscar.<\/p>\n<p>The qualifying films are-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Austria- \u201cRevanche,\u201d Gotz Spielmann, director<\/li>\n<li>Canada- \u201cThe Necessities of Life,\u201d Benoit Pilon, director<\/li>\n<li>France- \u201cThe Class,\u201d Laurent Cantet, director<\/li>\n<li>Germany- \u201cThe Baader Meinhof Complex,\u201d Uli Edel, director<\/li>\n<li>Israel- \u201cWaltz with Bashir,\u201d Ari Folman, director<\/li>\n<li>Japan- \u201cDepartures,\u201d Yojiro Takita, director<\/li>\n<li>Mexico- \u201cTear This Heart Out,\u201d Roberto Sneider, director<\/li>\n<li>Sweden- \u201cEverlasting Moments,\u201d Jan Troell, director<\/li>\n<li>Turkey- \u201c3 Monkeys,\u201d Nuri Bilge Ceylan, director<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The nominations for the Academy Awards will be announced January 22.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\">And then there were nine.
