I don\u2019t think that there are many people who didn\u2019t come away from Sylvain Chomet\u2019s Academy Award-nominated The Triplets Of Belleville<\/strong> without having been entranced by its mixture of 1920s hot jazz and rubbery Fleischer Studio- influenced animation.<\/p>\n

Chomet is in the process of returning to the world he created for Triplets with a prequel entitled Swing Popa Swing<\/strong>. Presumably it will tell the story of how the Triplets became big jazz stars in their youth.<\/p>\n

Right now, the animator has the project in development and will be looking for financing to make it happen at this March\u2019s Cartoon Movie conference of distributors and producers in Lyon, France. Chomet has not been able to get a project started since 2007\u2019s The Illusionist, so here\u2019s hoping he can get the funds to start production on this one.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, here\u2019s a piece of art from Chomet for the film that is featured on the Cartoon Movie website (via Cartoon Brew<\/a>).<\/p>\n
