\"sam-raimi-spiderman\"<\/a>Spider-Man 4<\/strong> is all set to shoot in 2010, according to JK Simmons, who plays perpetually irritated Daily Bugle<\/em> publisher J. Jonah Jameson in the franchise. MTV<\/a> snagged the news from Simmons at Sundance yesterday, where he stated that he learned of the plans from Spider-Man<\/strong> franchise director Sam Raimi at Raimi’s Christmas party.<\/p>\n

This little nugget certainly corrobarates the word that Sony Pictures is looking to have the next installment of the comic book franchise in theaters in May of 2011. That summer is starting to look a bit superhero heavy as in addition to Sony’s Spider-Man 4<\/strong>, Marvel Studios will also have their Captain America<\/strong> and The Avengers <\/strong>comic book adaptations all hitting the screen in a three month period.<\/p>\n

As for now, Raimi will need that year to whip a script into shape. Currently, he has hired Pulitzer Prize-winner David Lindsay-Abaire, who wrote Robots<\/strong> and Inkheart<\/strong>, to draft a story. Hopefully it will be a good one. Franchise stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst have both expressed interest in doing a fourth film if the script were strong enough. And after the problems that Spider-Man 3<\/strong> had, the script doesn’t have to just convince the actors to come back, but the audience as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
