Earlier this week we learned that the studio had cast Zero Dark Thirty star Jason Clarke for a role in their sequel to the franchise relaunch Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. Now a second new cast member has been added to the film – Kodi Smit-McPhee.

Smit-McPhee may not be a familiar face to many moviegoers, though they may recognize his voice from last summer’s ParaNorman, where he played the lead. He also has appeared in Ari Folman’s The Congress with Robin Wright, Paul Giamatti and Harvey Keitel, Michael J. Johnson’s The Wilderness Of James with Isabel Furman, Virginia Madsen, and Evan Ross and A Birder’s Guide To Everything with Sir Ben Kingsley.

The film will take place 15 years after the events of Rise sparked the release of a genetic serum that proved deadly to most humans but which boasted the intelligence in primates. Part of the story will focus on a group of scientists in San Fransisco while another part will focus on original augmented chimp Caesar (Andy Serkis, returning from the first film) to keep control of his new kingdom.

Cloverfield‘s Matt Reeves is set to direct with production slated for later this spring in order to meet a May 23, 2014 release date.

Via Deadline.

A second new cast member has been announced for the sequel.

[click for more]

[84
5234,6191

0":"post-26767","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-news","7":"tag-dawn-of-the-planet-of-the-apes","8":"tag-kodi-smit-mcphee
["GET
