\"RobertMay\"<\/a>When Fog Of War<\/strong> producer Robert May was looking for a subject for his directorial debut, he looked no further than his own backyard. May is completing work on a documentary on 2009’s “Kids For Cash” scandal that erupted into national headlines from the northeast Pennsylvania county where his production company SenArt is based.<\/p>\n

Working for over four years, since just after news of the scandal first broke, May has pieced together the story of two county judges who who kickbacks and bribes from officials who built the county’s for-profit juvenile detention center. Juveniles were given harsher sentences and were remanded over to detention facility where the operators were paid by the county per inmate. The more inmates, the more income they received.<\/p>\n

May is hoping to have the film in theaters in early 2014.<\/p>\n

In addition to the Academy Award-winning Fog Of War<\/strong>, May has produced the documentaries Stevie (2002) and The War Tapes (2006) as well as feature film The Station Agent starring Peter Dinklage.<\/p>\n

Granted, this is a story directly out of my own backyard as well, and so anytime it comes up in terms of film, my ears definitely prick up. We were the first online film press to report<\/a> that it was going to be featured in what would become Michael Moore’s documentary Capitalism: A Love Story<\/strong>. It only received a short segment in that film and since then, the story has grown. May has much to work with and I can’t wait to see what he does with the subject.<\/p>\n
