Well, that was quick.<\/p>\n

Less than 24 hours ago it was reported that Warner Brothers had dropped their plans<\/a> to make a sequel to 1994’s hit comedy Dumb And Dumber, leaving directors Bobby and Peter Farrelly to shop the project around for financing and distribution. And now the pair may have already found a savior in the form of Red Granite.<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/a> is reporting that the financier of the upcoming\u00a0Martin Scorsese-Leo DiCaprio stockbroker film Wolf Of Wall Street<\/strong> has already placed itself in first position to finance the film and sell foreign distribution rights. If they do step up to bat, this would be the first project that they have committed to since their initial investment with Wolf Of Wall Street<\/strong>. Deadline is also reporting that there are five distributors who are lining up for a chance to take on the film, with Universal standing at the head.<\/p>\n

Dumb And Dumber To<\/strong> had been in development at Warner subsidiary New Line for the past several years and was thought to be a lock with stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels\u2019 participation. However, the studio balked at the rather low budget of $30 million when the similarly priced The Incredible Burt Wonderstone<\/strong> in which Carey co-starred bombed at the box office earlier this year. The original Dumb And Dumber<\/strong> cost $17 million to make and grossed more than $247 million.<\/p>\n

If a deal for this is going to happen, it should happen fairly quickly in order to accommodate both actors’ schedules.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
