Director Colin Trevorrow is busily at work, prepping to shoot Jurassic Park 4<\/strong> in order to have it in theaters by 2015. But outside of the fact that Trevorrow will be taking us<\/a> back to the original island of Isla Nublar for this new installment, we know almost nothing else about the plotline of the film, except, of course, that dinosaurs will be involved and that it probably won’t end happily for most of the human cast. The folks over at JoBlo<\/a> think they know how things are going to shake out, thanks to a “rusted and reliable source” –<\/p>\n

JURASSIC PARK 4, set in present day Isla Nublar, is now an actual theme park, as originally intended by John Hammond in the first film. It garners 10 million visitors per year and is completely safe \u2013 until it\u2019s not. The park itself is described as very Sea World-esque and includes an area called the Isla Nublar Lagoon. That means underwater dino\u2019s for the first time. No indication of what kind, but there\u2019s concept art showing one of the aquatic dino\u2019s, as part of a show, jumping out of the lagoon and eating a strung up great white shark like it was a fish for a dolphin at sea world.<\/p>\n

As part of a show, you ask? That’s right, folks, this will feature “tamed” dino’s. In fact, our source indicated that the usually menacing Velociraptors (which will finally be muzzled, along with the T-Rex – until they’re not) will actually be used to help fight the threat, which begins in the form of a new dinosaur, not seen in any of the previous films (and not disclosed to us) shows to be much smarter than originally thought and is the main cause of havoc breaking out at the park.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

For years I have said that the Michael Crichton scripted and directed 1973 science-fiction thriller WestWorld<\/strong> was the author’s “dry run” of his Jurassic Park<\/em> concept. In that movie, two friends head to a new amusement park that offered several historical scenarios with which one would interact with very human looking robot characters, in essence allowing guests to role-play living in Ancient Rome, Medieval England or the Old West. A computer glitch causes the robots to begin killing the park guests and the two friends find themselves on the run from a determined robotic gunslinger in the form of Yul Brenner. Sound familiar? If this Jurassic Park 4<\/strong> plotline is accurate, it certainly looks as if screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes<\/strong>) has moved the concept to be even closer to Crichton’s original WestWorld<\/strong> story than even Crichton had dared to.<\/p>\n

Come to think of it, the full-functional theme park idea also reminds me of Jaws 3D<\/strong>. Let’s hope that they’re steering more towards WestWorld<\/strong> in tone and quality than that infamous shark sequel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
