The studio, which owns the film rights to the thriller series, has set a release date of December 18, 2015 for the project which will see Tom Hanks returning to play Langdon after having played the scholar\/adventurer in the hit adaptations <strong>The DaVinci Code<\/strong> and <strong>Angels &amp; Demons<\/strong>. Ron Howard will also return to direct the film.<\/p>\n<p>Sony had been developing the third book in the series, <em>The Lost Symbol<\/em>, with Danny Strong working on the screenplay. Mark Romanek was picked to direct after Howard decided he didn&#8217;t want to work on the film.
