\"954729\"<\/a>While there have been many various incarnations of X-Force in the comics, the one constant has been a character named Cable. He formed the team, was its leader, and the team was defined by his presence or, on the rare occasions that he wasn’t on the team, his absence. Now that the team is headed for the big screen, fans might have to prepare themselves for a Cable-less version of the team.<\/p>\n

Writer Jeff Wadlow, who is writing the\u00a0X-Force<\/strong> film, spoke to Sean O’Connell over at Cinema Blend<\/a> about the film. Wadlow states that he has broken the story and is 20pages into his first draft,<\/p>\n

When Wadlow was asked specifically about Cable’s role in the film, Wadlow provided an interesting reply.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the thing, I love the current run of Uncanny X-Force<\/i>. I love the classic run. Part of my take was addressing this idea that X-Force<\/i> can be many different things, and that\u2019s what got the studio excited. I think the fans will be excited, too.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Bleeding Cool’s <\/a>Brendan Connelly seems to think this indicates that Cable will not be the leader of X-Force in the film, or perhaps not a member of the team at all. After all, Wadlow made a point of mentioning the one of two X-Force books published by Marvel that does not feature Cable in its roster.<\/p>\n

Cable has yet to be introduced into the X-Men film universe, and while he is one of Marvel’s most popular mutants, to bring him in now would be problematic. Cable is Nathan Summers, the son of Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Madeline Pryor (a clone of Jean Grey) who contracted a Techno-Organic Virus. He was sent to the future in hopes that there would be a cure waiting for him, but the Clan Askani was only able to help him delay the spread of the virus. Eventually, he returned to the present as a grown man, a warrior sent to train the next generation of mutants and fight off threats to the mutant race.<\/p>\n

As you can see, that is one complex origin, and one that will not exactly transfer over to X-Men film universe (especially if Cyclops and Jean Grey stay dead). So it might be the best thing for Cable fans if he doesn’t show up in X-Force, <\/strong>because the version of Cable that appears would be one that barely resembled the comic version they love.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
