Just don&#8217;t be looking for something similar in the upcoming remake from director Jose Padilha.<\/p>\n<p>Total Film has tweeted a quote from an unidentified person connected to the film addressing what the rating that the film is aiming for.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#39;We&#39;re shooting this movie to be seen by as wide an audience as possible, which means PG13&#39; don&#39;t expect excessive gore in Robocop <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/SDCC?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#SDCC<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Total Film (@totalfilm) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/totalfilm\/status\/358341488364625920?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 19, 2013<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>This is an unfortunate turn of events, especially since Padilha&#8217;s <strong>Elite Squad<\/strong> films don&#8217;t pull any puches when it comes to the violence department.<\/p>\n<p>Now it is understandable that a film would try to maximize its potential audience. With the amount of money studios are investing in projects, especially ones like a <strong>RoboCop<\/strong> film, it is only natural to try and do everything to make a return on that investment. However, a film like RoboCop has a certain reputation and it strikes me that to tone down the gore blunts the edge of the original&#8217;s satiric intent.
