The director commented on twitter today that he will be taking the reigns on the fifth installment of the Tom Cruise-starring franchise <strong>Mission: Impossible<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/chrismcquarrie\/statuses\/364456078664560640<\/p>\n<p>Cruise hopped online shortly thereafter to confirm.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">MISSION ACCEPTED! The pair re-teamed for the science-fiction thriller <strong>Edge of Tomorrow<\/strong> which is due out next year.<\/p>\n<p>It was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2012\/11\/15\/christopher-mcquarrie-may-choose-to-accept-mission-impossible-5\/\" target=\"_blank\">last November<\/a> when McQuarrie&#8217;s name was first floated as possible taking the director&#8217;s chair for <strong>MI5<\/strong>, but when Warner Brothers hired him to head up their remake of the Cold War submarine thriller <strong>Ice Station Zebra<\/strong> this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2013\/05\/07\/christopher-mcquarrie-heading-to-ice-station-zebra-remake\/\" target=\"_blank\">past May<\/a>, it was thought that he was out of the running.
