Once Carey Mulligan turned down<\/a> the lead in director James Ponsoldt’s Hillary Clinton biopic Rodham<\/strong>, the net was cast wide to find another actress to take on the role. One of those caught up in its reach is Brie Larson.<\/p>\n

While on the press junket for the upcoming Short Term 12<\/strong>, the actress told Up & Commers<\/a> (via Bleeding Cool<\/a>) that she had been sent a copy of writer Young Il Kim’s screenplay and she \u201cwould definitely be interested in the role\u201d.<\/p>\n

They\u2019ve sent me the script. I just haven\u2019t been able to read anything lately. I have a stack of scripts and I\u2019m just\u2026maybe, I have a long flight coming up, maybe I can read it then\u2026 But yeah, I\u2019m interested.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I can see how any actress would be interested in the role. There is definitely a surfeit of strong roles for women in Hollywood, and Kim’s script, which landed on the number 4 spot on last year’s Black List<\/a>, definitely provides one in this story of a young Yale Law graduate working her way up the Washington, DC ladder but who is simultaneously being pulled away from it by her Arkansas politican boyfriend.<\/p>\n

And it is possible that Larson has an inside track, having already worked with director Ponsoldt on The Spectacular Now<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
