But between the two bookends we get some new shots from the dwarfs&#8217; escape from the elves by barrel and their battle with the giant spiders in Mirkwood. The trailer also hints at the tension between the dwarfs and the people of Laketown who really don&#8217;t want them going and disturbing the slumbering dragon under the Lonely Mountain. We also get a few tantalizing glimpses of the White Council&#8217;s actions against the Necromancer, as J R R Tolkien hinted at in the book and then expanded on in the <em>Lord Of The Ring<\/em> appendices, the true identity of the evil wizard that they are preparing to fight.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, in the new material featuring the elf Tauriel, played by Evangeline Lily and invented by director Peter Jackson for the films, we see Elrond (Hugo Weaving) expressing concern that his son Legolas (Orlando Bloom) will getting &#8220;hope where there is none.&#8221; A hint, perhaps, that even then Elrond was aware of the growing evil that would encompass all of Middle Earth in <strong>The Lord Of The Rings<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p>Check it out.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\"
