While Prometheus<\/strong> was a bit of a mixed bag in terms of what it contributed to Twentieth Century Fox’s Aliens<\/strong> franchise, it’s director Ridley Scott is more than ready to take another go. So much so that he has admitted to Empire<\/a> that he already has the screenplay for a sequel written.<\/p>\n

Prometheus 2<\/strong> is written. I have already got the next two films ready to go. That will be 2014, 2015…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

By “next two films,” Scott is referring to his next two projects, not necessarily two more Prometheus<\/strong> films. And right now, Scott has a lot on his plate that could conceivably be those pair of films. In addition to Prometheus 2<\/strong>, Scott has an adaptation of the Joe Hadleman science-fiction novel The Forever War in development. But his next film will probably be the Biblical epic Exodus, which already has Christian Bale, John Turtorro, Sigourney Weaver and Joel Edgerton attached and which the director described as “fucking huge.”<\/p>\n

With the original Alien<\/strong> film and Blade Runner<\/strong> on his resume, there was a time in the 1980s where Scott was considered the king of the smart science-fiction film. But perhaps not wanting to be pigeon-holed as just a director of those types of films, Scott moved away from the genre for a long time. But he admits that he missed the genre and is happy and excited to be back.<\/p>\n

I thought I\u2019d left science-fiction for too long, that I had better climb back in. Prometheus<\/strong> was a great experience for me. Chasing number two, we can start evolving the grand idea…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It’s exciting to see him excited about the genre again and about continuing to work in the franchise that he created. If Prometheus was just him shaking off the cobwebs, the next several years should be yielding some great films.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
