\"FantasticFour\"<\/a>If you have been patiently waiting for the arrival of films based on the Assassin’s Creed <\/strong>video game or the Fantastic Four <\/strong>and The<\/strong> Secret Service <\/strong>comic books, you are going to have to be patient for a little while longer. Fox has announced <\/a>a number of changes to its release schedule and all of those films have been affected.<\/p>\n

\"AssassinsCreed\"<\/a>Assassin’s Creed<\/strong>, based on the multi-platform, time-spanning video game series of the same name will move from June of 2015 to August 7, 2015. Michael Fassbender is producing and set to play the lead, presumably Desmond Miles, a man who travels back in time to inhabit the bodies of the numerous assassins that make up his bloodline. The film has not hired a director as of yet. It currently shares August with only The<\/strong> Smurfs 3,<\/strong> which will hit theaters a week later on August 14th.<\/p>\n

Josh Trank’s reboot of Fantastic Four <\/strong>moves from March 6, 2015 to June 19, 2015. I don’t think another push forward is out of the question, not only because there has been no movement on casting, but also because it currently shares the release date with Pixar’s Inside Out <\/strong>and comes a week before Jurassic <\/strong>World. <\/strong>The reboot will have to extraordinarily spectacular for it to make a lasting impression against that competition. If it keeps that release date, the reboot might die on the vine, without even having one week at the top of the box office.<\/p>\n

\"secretservice-e1364450720142\"<\/a>Taking the March 6, 2015 spot that Fantastic <\/strong>Four <\/strong>left behind is Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of The Secret Service<\/strong>, Mark Millar’s and Dave Gibbon’s take on a James Bond-esque superspy, . This film is already in production, with Colin Firth and Samuel L. Jackson cast, so the move from November 2014 appears to be just to allow a little cushion in post-production. It’s a good spot for the film as of right now, as it gets a three-week lead on Neil Blomkamp’s Chappie, <\/strong>which would be in competition for the same audience.<\/p>\n

Fox also announced that Melissa McCarthy’s third teaming with director Paul Feig, the spy caper Susan Cooper<\/strong>, will be released on May 22,2015. This comes just three weeks after The Avengers: Age of Ultron <\/strong> and the same week as Brad Bird’s Tom<\/strong>orrowland<\/strong>. I would worry to much about\u00a0Susan Cooper’s <\/strong>chances. McCarthy is a draw and, if anything, it will be savvy counter-programming at its best,<\/p>\n

Taking The Secret Service’<\/strong>s fall 2014 slot is an as yet untitled Vince Vaughn comedy, set to be released October 24, 2014.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
