\"hugh-jackman-picture-4\"<\/a>We know that Hugh Jackman has a film by film contract with Fox to play Wolverine. But we also know he is actively working with The Wolverine <\/strong>director James Mangold to come up with a sequel to that film<\/a>. So, this means that he’s definitely coming back, right?<\/p>\n

Not so fast.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Vanity Fair<\/a>, Jackman was actively working to develop the film, is return is anything but guaranteed:<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know whether or not I will do this next movie. I am really proud of (The Wolverine) and I am excited to develop something with Jim Mangold from the beginning because that is a great ride. That\u2019s exciting, to see what we come up with but I have a very high expectation of what it would need to be [for me to star in it] and if it doesn\u2019t reach those, I won\u2019t be doing it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jackman also states that development on the film hasn’t gotten much farther than it did back in November when the idea for a sequel was announced.<\/p>\n

Now, on the one hand, I can see Jackman’s point. He has been playing the same role for 13 years already, and even the most patient actor might need a break or, at the very least, have his return be worth his while. However, this could also be him sending a message to Fox saying that his return is not guaranteed, perhaps\u00a0 as a ploy for more money or more creative freedom.<\/p>\n

Of course, if Jackman is making rumblings about not returning to the Wolverine film he is co-developing, will he be willing to come back for X-Men: Apocalypse?<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

Sounds like Fox is low-balling him in contract negotiations.<\/div>\n
