Academy Award winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has died. He was found dead in his New York City apartment late this morning of an apparent drug overdose, according to the New York Police Department. He was 46.<\/p>\n

Hoffman leaves behind an incredible body of work in film. In addition to his Best Actor Academy Award-winning turn in 2005\u2032s Capote<\/strong>, he also received three other Best Supporting Actor Oscar nominations from the Academy over the course of his career for the films Doubt<\/strong>, Charlie Wilson\u2019s War<\/strong> and The Master<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Hoffman’s role in The Master<\/strong> was the last in a long string of collaborations with director Paul Thomas Anderson with the actor appearing in nearly all of the director’s films including Hard Eight<\/strong>, Boogie Nights<\/strong>, Magnolia<\/strong>, Punch-Drunk Love<\/strong> and The Master<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Additionally, Hoffman appeared in such films as The Big Lebowski<\/strong>, The Talented Mr. Ripley<\/strong>, Love Liza<\/strong> (written for him by his brother Gordy Hoffman), Almost Famous<\/strong>, Cold Mountain<\/strong>, Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead<\/strong>, Pirate Radio<\/strong> and Moneyball<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
