Daniel Radcliffe and Dane DeHaan are reuniting with their Kill Your Darlings<\/strong> director John Krokidas for College Republicans<\/strong>, the 2010 Black List topper that examines the earliest days of Republican party operatives Lee Atwater and Karl Rove.<\/p>\n

The Wrap<\/a> has broken the news, though they do state that Radcliffe’s are denying that he is attached but only is considering a role in the film.<\/p>\n

When last we checked in<\/a> on the project’s future, attached star Paul Dano told us that it looked doubtful if the film was going to be made. At the time, Dano was attached along with actor Shia LaBeouf and director Richard Linklater but the film was having trouble finding financing.<\/p>\n

The College Republicans<\/strong> screenplay covers the first meeting between Rove and Atwater in 1973 when Rove was making a run for national president of the College Republicans organization.<\/p>\n

Atwater and Rove have carved themselves a legacy for having engineered political campaigns that used tactics that could be considered legally and ethically questionable. Atwater ultimately rose to become chairman of the Republican National Committee and campaign manager for President George Herbert Walker Bush. Rove would manage George W. Bush\u2019s presidential campaign. By becoming a key advisor to the president during his eight years in office, he earned the nickname \u201cBush\u2019s Brain.\u201d In 1990, after being diagnosed with brain cancer, Atwater converted to Catholicism and sent apologizes to many of the politicians he felt he wronged with his tactics over the years before dying in March 1991.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
