Tye Sheridan, the young actor who held his own against Matthew McConaughey in last year’s indie drama Mud, has landed the lead role in the upcoming horror comedy Scouts Versus Zombies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The screenplay by Carrie Evans and Emi Mochizuki originally landed on 2010’s Black List as Boy Scouts Versus Zombies<\/strong> and was scooped up by Paramount. The story centers on a scout troop who have to discover if they are prepared enough when a zombie invasion breaks out and they travel across an island to help save neighboring girl scout camp.<\/p>\n

Christopher Landon, the co-writer for the first Paranormal Activity<\/strong> sequel who then went on to solo script installments 3<\/strong> and 4<\/strong> before graduating to both writing and directing the Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones<\/strong>, will be directing<\/a>. Previously, Andy Fickman and Etan Cohen<\/a> had both been attached to helm.<\/p>\n

Sheridan has been a busy actor over the last year. He has the film Joe<\/strong>, in which he stars opposite Nic Cage, opening April 11 with Last Days In The Desert<\/strong> with Ewan McGregor and Ayelet Zurer and director Kyle Wilamowski’s Grass Stains<\/strong> scheduled for later in the year.<\/p>\n

I had a chance to read the original script back in 2010 and despite its goofy premise, I found that there was a sweet coming-of-age story in the midst of all the shambling, undead shenanigans. Hopefully, that hasn\u2019t been written out as the script has gone through development over the last three years.<\/p>\n
