If you’re upset that the recently attempted Beverly Hills Cop<\/strong> television series featuring both film franchise star Eddie Murphy as detective Axel Foley and Brandon T. Jackson as Foley’s son not making it to the air, we’ve got some good news for you. Paramount is still confident that there is an audience for the franchise and have been continuing development on a fourth feature film, and today have announced a scheduled release on March 25, 2016.<\/p>\n

The film had actually been in development at Paramount since before the television spinoff was commissioned by CBS. After the network passed on the show, the studio put the feature film back into development<\/a> and hired Mission: Impossible\u2013Ghost Protocol<\/strong> and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles<\/strong> screenwriters Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec to script. Brett Ratner, who was attached to the project before the television detour, was reattached to direct<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Murphy launched the franchise of the Detroit cop who repeatedly finds his way to Beverly Hills in the course of his investigations as his career was in its ascendency back in 1984 with director Martin Brest. Subsequent entries in 1987 and 1994 were directed by Tony Scott and John Landis respectively.<\/p>\n

While I have to admit that I am interested in seeing if Murphy is capable of returning to his iconic comedic role after years of flopping at more family-oriented comedies. I am less than interested in seeing what Ratner is bringing to equation.<\/p>\n
