Bare, who directed numerous episodes of the original series which saw a lawyer (Eddie Albert) who was disgruntled with the hustle of Manhattan and moves himself and his none-too-happy-about-it wife (Eva Gabor) to the countryside to live on a dilapidated farm. Bare is working with producer Phillip Goldfine in developing the property as both a potential feature film and a Broadway play. Deadline broke the story of the rights purchase but has no word as to whether there are any creatives attached to either endeavor yet.

By now, I’m used to – Or is that numb to? – the fact that Hollywood will continue to mine old television series for possible feature film ideas. So this doesn’t bother me all that much. If anything, given the nature of the original show, and how it shared a rural setting and some supporting characters with another popular series at the time, Petticoat Junction, maybe this could be developed along the same lines as Marvel Studio’s superhero films with local country store owner Sam Drucker serving as this film franchise’s version of Nick Fury! (Or maybe not.)

Anyway, the show’s theme song, which also fills one in on the premise of the series, is a catchy little ear worm, so here it is for those unfamiliar –

Is a movie theater the place to be for GREEN ACRES?

[click for more]

[84
7256

0":"post-33465","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-news","8":"tag-green-acres
["GET
