It appears as if last week<\/a>‘s report that Alfonso Cuaron was in talks to return to the Harry Potter<\/strong> franchise for the spin-off film Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find<\/strong> Them may have been a bit premature.<\/p>\n

Speaking with the Spanish outlet EFE (via Digital Spy<\/a>), the director of Potter<\/strong> installment The Prisoner Of Azkaban<\/strong> as well as the Oscar-winner Gravity, stated that he doesn’t wish his next project to be another visual effects-laden piece.<\/p>\n

[Directing Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban<\/strong>] was a very beautiful experience for me. I have a lot of love for that universe and I tremendously admire JK Rowling, but today, for the present, projects based around lots of visual effects don\u2019t attract me\u2026 I\u2019m coming out of a five-year process of doing visual effects and now I sort of want to clean my palate of that a little bit.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Given the amount of effects work he did with Gravity<\/strong> and Prisoner Of Azkaban<\/strong> and to lesser degree before that Children Of Men<\/strong>, I can see where he is coming from and it is hard to blame him for wanting to get back to some more basic, simple filmmaking. Besides, if it ultimately leads him to producing another character drama like 2001’s Y Tu Mam\u00e1 Tambi\u00e9n<\/strong> that can’t be at all a bad thing, now can it?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
