If you’re a Redbox Streaming By Verizon subscriber, you only have until tomorrow night to enjoy the service. After that, it is going black. <\/p>\n

Deadline<\/a> is reporting that the service has begun posting a notice for its subscribers that it will be shutting down as of 11:59 pm tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Thank you for being a part of Redbox Instant by Verizon. Please be aware that the service will be shut down on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Information on applicable refunds will be emailed to current customers and posted here on October 10. In the meantime, you may continue to stream movies and use your Redbox kiosk credits until Tuesday, October 7 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. The closure doesn’t come as too much of a surprise as the service had not really caught on since it debuted back in February 2012. Although the Redbox disc rental kiosks remain a popular way for people to rent a film, the company was unable to convert that into users of the streaming service. Though I dare say that both Redbox and Verizon will regroup and look at relaunching their own individual streaming services at some point down the road. While Netflix still has the biggest slice of the streaming pie, there are still plenty of companies out there who want their own serving as well. But with Amazon and Hulu being the next biggest dogs at the table, everyone else is in a race for fourth place.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
