Acadmey Award-nominated <strong>Flight<\/strong> writer John Gatins will be working on a new draft of the project&#8217;s script, working from a draft turned in by Max Borenstein.<\/p>\n<p>Borenstein is moving on from one giant monster franchise to another, taking on scripting duties for Legendary&#8217;s <strong>Godzilla<\/strong> sequel, which is already scheduled for June 8, 2018 release.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Skull Island<\/strong> was a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2014\/07\/27\/sdcc-legendary-plans-to-take-us-to-kongs-birthplace-skull-island\/\" target=\"_blank\">surprise announcement<\/a> from Legendary at this past summer&#8217;s San Diego Comic Con.
