\"theater<\/a>The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> is quoting sources who are saying that the nation’s top five movie theater chains–Regal Entertainment, AMC Entertainment, Cinemark, Carmike Cinemas and Cineplex\u00a0Entertainment–will be dropping Sony’s The Interview<\/strong> from its theaters. The majors join regional theaters such as Bow Tie Cinemas and Classic Cinemas in dropping the film after the organization named “Guardians of Peace” took their protest against the film from cyber-terrorism to threats of another 9\/11 level attack on the theaters who would dare show the film.<\/p>\n

The action comes hot on the heels of Seth Rogen and James Franco cancelling their promotional tour for the film over safety concerns, which might have played a part in the theaters decision to not show the film. “Due to the wavering support of the film The Interview<\/em> by Sony Pictures, as well as the ambiguous nature of any real or perceived security threats, Regal Entertainment Group has decided to delay the opening of the film in our theatres,” a Regal representative told The Hollywood Reporter.<\/p>\n

On the one hand, this is the chains giving into terrorists, which sits well with no American. On the other hand, Christmas is one of the biggest movie going days of the year, and the cineplexes would be filled with thousands of men, women and children. An attack like the one the Guardians of Peace promised would cause the death of a whole lot of people, and these theaters decided not to risk it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
