Chris Weitz is currently working on the screenplay, following Gary Whitta, who penned the first draft.<\/p>\n<p>Jones, who currently is a Best Actress nominee for this year\u2019s Academy Awards for her role in <strong>The Theory Of Everything<\/strong>, is reported to have beat out the likes of Rooney Mara and Tatiana Maslany for the role. Jones\u2019s casting is the first such announcement for the film. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/heat-vision\/star-wars-stand-alone-movie-768582\" target=\"_blank\">Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, who broke the news of Jones\u2019 casting, are stating that sources have told them that Aaron Paul and Edgar Ramirez are being considered for the male lead role.<\/p>\n<p>Story details for the first spinoff film, which will premier in-between the re 2015 and 2017 releases of the seventh and eight installments of the main <strong>Star Wars<\/strong> saga, are scarce.
