J.J. Abrams is known for wanting to preserve the secrets of his films, keeping them inside what he likes to call “mystery boxes.” But that’s not to say that he doesn’t understand the fannish impulse to want to seek out spoilers for highly anticipated like, say, his own upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Speaking with the BBC<\/a>, Abrams was uncharacteristically open about the rumors that have been circulating about the film.<\/p>\n

We did the best we can to preserve the story for the audience, but it doesn’t always work.<\/p>\n

There are a ton of rumours – some true, some false. But I’m grateful for everyone who would want to read a spoiler because it means that they care and want to see the movie.<\/p>\n

I know what it feels like, as an enormous Star Wars<\/strong> fan myself.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Of course, you’ll notice that he doesn’t point out which rumors are true or not, a smart move as it now just resparks every online conversation and debate that has happened over the last year or so, keeping the movie’s buzz going for at least another couple of months until we get the next bit of real news.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
