If you’ve been waiting for the follow-up to the English-language adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo<\/strong>, you might want to find something else to do with your time.<\/p>\n

Speaking with E! Online<\/a>, Rooney Mara, who played the titular computer hacker in director David Fincher’s 2011 thriller, seemed resigned that she would not be returning to the character for either one of the other two novels in Swedish writer Stieg Larsson’s Millennium<\/em> trilogy.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t think it\u2019s going to happen. I\u2019m sad never to do it again, but it just doesn\u2019t seem like it\u2019s in the cards.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone. Fincher had already stated that he has moved on and would not be involved with any further adaptation of either The Girl Who Played With Fire<\/em> or The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest<\/em>. And while the film did earn five Academy Award nominations, including one for Mara for Best Actress, it struggled to find an audience at the box office. If the project was being worked on, it is undoubtedly in development hell right now.<\/p>\n

Honestly, I can’t say that I am too heartbroken by this. Swedish director Niels Arden Oplev’s 2009 adaptation of the novel and the two sequels – The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest<\/em> and The Girl Who Played With Fire<\/em> – directed by Daniel Alfredson are pretty good films in themselves and just trying duplicate them in English seems a bit of a fool’s errand.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
