Things take a turn for the worse when they discover that the militray is looking at seizing the technology for their own purposes.<\/p>\n<p>The film was directed special effects wizard Douglas Trumbull as a follow up to his debut feature <strong>Silent Running<\/strong>. No writer for this new version has been picked yet.<\/p>\n<p>The original film is ripe for a remake if only because the tragic drowning death of co-star Natalie Wood during production forced a series of rewrites and reshoots which ultimately hurt the final product.
