\"George-Miller\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This past weekend was the battle of the Aussies at the box office with the Mad Max: Fury Road<\/strong>, directed by Australian George Miller, and Pitch Perfect 2<\/strong>, with the Sydney-born Rebel Wilson leading up the ensemble cast, duking it out for the top spot. And while Pitch Perfect 2<\/strong> emerged the victor, there were enough tickets sold for Mad Max<\/strong> that the studio is probably already considering a sequel. And Miller is ready for them.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the screenwriting podcast The Q & A<\/a>, Miller revealed to host Jeff Goldsmith that he has already written more material set in his post-apocalyptic, car-centric world.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve got one screenplay and a novella. It happened because with the delays [on ‘Fury Road’], and writing all the backstories, they just expanded.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And the title for that screenplay? Mad Max: The Wasteland<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As to whether Miller will get to film that screenplay remains to be seen, but if the films continues to do well at the box office, I don’t see how he wouldn’t be asked by the studio to get right to work. As for how quickly that would happen though, may very well depend on the availability of star Tom Hardy, who with each passing film is becoming more in demand. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
