Why is that? Well, because they&#8217;ve announced that Roger Deakins will be the cinematographer on the film.<\/p>\n<p>Deakins&#8217; participation was pretty much a given as <strong>Blade Runner 2<\/strong> director Denis Villeneuve has collaborated with Deakins on his two previous films, <strong>Prisoners<\/strong> and the upcoming <strong>Sicario<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>One of the top cinematographers working today, Deakins has brought a visual artistry to everything from his work with the Cohen Brothers to films like <strong>House Of Sand And Fog<\/strong>, <strong>Jarhead<\/strong> and <strong>Revolutionary Road<\/strong>. His work on the 2012 James Bond film <strong>Skyfall<\/strong> had people talking about a possible Academy Award nomination for his work, the first time in a very long while that the franchise would fuel such discussion.<\/p>\n<p>Deakins will be following up on the work of Jordan Cronenweth, who worked with director Ridley Scott to create the iconic noir-ish future dystopia of the original <strong>Blade Runner<\/strong>. Production doesn&#8217;t get underway until next summer, so it will be a while before we get to see the fruits of his labors.
