The character is portrayed in the comics as a old, Asian man, exemplified in the artwork below:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Ancient-One.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-36044\" src=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Ancient-One-550x284.png\" alt=\"Ancient One\" width=\"550\" height=\"284\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Ancient-One-550x284.png 550w, https:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Ancient-One-300x155.png 300w, https:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Ancient-One.png 620w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a> Swinton is neither ancient, Asian nor male, so this casting might cause comic fans, notorious for not receiving any change from the comics well (see the files <a href=\"http:\/\/www.filmbuffonline.com\/FBOLNewsreel\/wordpress\/2013\/05\/02\/could-michael-b-jordan-be-the-human-torch-in-the-fantastic-four-reboot\/\">Jordan, Michael B; Storm, Johnny; and Four, Fantastic<\/a>), to begin protesting. However, Swinton seems to be very genre friendly. Arguably her biggest role was in <strong>The Chronicles of Narnia <\/strong>series, and if she signs on here, it would mark her third comic book film (after <strong>Constantine <\/strong>and <strong>Snowpiercer<\/strong>). And to add a deeper level of geekiness, one of her ex-husbands shared his name with a legendary comic book writer and artist&#8211;John Byrne.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, she is a great actress who would bring a lot to the role.
