You know that thing we said at the end of last week<\/a> about Channing Tatum possibly dropping out of Fox’s Gambit<\/strong>? Forget we brought it up.<\/p>\n

The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> revealed over the weekend that while negotiations between the actor and the studio over his participation in the X-Men<\/strong> franchise spinoff film had hit a “sensitive spot,” but that was all part of the usual process of negotiations. If anything, the Reporter states that the possibility of Tatum walking was rather slim given that he had been involved with the project for a few years now as both an actor and, later in the process, producer.<\/p>\n

Additionally, details as to how much interaction Tatum’s Gambit will have with the rest of Twentieth Century Fox’s X-Men<\/strong> cinematic universe were one of the things that needed ironing out.<\/p>\n

One thing that needed figuring out was the extent of Tatum\u2019s involvement in the X-Men universe. Fox sees Tatum\u2019s Gambit, a mutant who harnesses kinetic energy, as one of the anchor characters of the X-universe, akin to Hugh Jackman\u2019s Wolverine, someone who would anchor his own movies and appear in numerous others. It\u2019s a commitment that could theoretically last more than a decade. (Jackman has been portraying Wolverine since 2000, for instance.)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Rupert Wyatt will be directing the film which should get underway this October for an October 7, 2016 release.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
