\"King_Kong_vs._Godzilla\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In a surprising move, Legendary Pictures’ Thomas Tull has moved their Kong: Skull Island<\/strong> project from Universal where it has been in development to Warner Brothers.<\/p>\n

According to Deadline<\/a>, who broke the story, this will position the studio to have King Kong potentially meet up with the star of their other giant monster franchise – Godzilla.<\/p>\n

In what would be a pretty epic pairing, the Godzilla sequel that is in the works will be followed by a movie that pits the giant ape versus the giant fire breathing reptile.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This wouldn’t be the first time that the two titans squared off against each other on the silver screen. In 1962, Toho Studios produced their first match-up in what was both stars’ first color film.<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen how exactly the throw down between Kong and Godzilla will come about. One thing that is standing out to me is that in the recent US Godzilla<\/strong> film, the Big G was some 350 feet tall, but traditionally Kong has been shown as approximately 50 to 60 feet tall. It should be interesting to see how they handle this.<\/p>\n

Currently, Kong: Skull Island<\/strong> is assembling its cast for a production start of later this year or early next year. Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston and Corey Hawkins are already set to star in the film with Samuel L Jackson, Tom Wilkinson and John C Reilly all in line for roles.
