New York City is such a vital element of the original Ghostbusters<\/strong> film that some fans felt a bit disappointed that Paul Feig’s reboot of the franchise was actually filming in Boston, with the New England city subbing for the Big Apple. There was some hope for a little authenticate Big Apple flavor when it was reported that the film did some shooting in both Tribeca downtown (which, perhaps not so coincidentally is the real life location of the iconic Ghostbusters<\/strong> firehouse) and then uptown by Columbia University (which featured in the opening of the original film).<\/p>\n

But loyal FilmBuffOnline reader Morey K. forwarded us this picture taken last night in midtown around W 38th and 8th Ave. A Production Assistant tried to tell him that all the cameras, lights and gear was for a movie called Flapjack, but “[Y]ou’ll see what it’s about in a minute.” And then around the corner came the new version of the classic Ghostbusters<\/strong> Ecto-1 car. The car appeared to be driven by star Kate McKinnon’s stand-in, so this was just some second unit.<\/p>\n

Ghostbusters<\/strong> should be wrapping production fairly soon, as co-stars McKinnon and LESLIE Jones are due to start back up iwithant her season of Saturday Night Live in just two weeks.<\/p>\n

Ghostbusters<\/strong> hits theaters July 15, 2016.<\/p>\n
