Marvel was happy enough with the returns of this past summer’s Ant-Man<\/strong> that they have shoehorned a sequel, Ant-Man And The Wasp<\/strong>, into its Phase Three cycle of films for July 6, 2018. In addition to the obvious return of stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily, director Peyton Reed is currently in talks with the studio for a second turn behind the cameras. And it looks as if another behind the camera creative type will be back as well. <\/p>\n

Talking with the Hollywood Reporter, writer Adam McKay stated that he would certainly like to return to write the superhero sequel.<\/p>\n

I was talking to [Paul] Rudd about it the other day. We\u2019ll see what happens, but that would certainly be fun. I loved working with Marvel. And I have a couple of projects in development. One of them is more dramatic, one\u2019s more comedy, still with a little bit of political teeth to it. And there\u2019s a TV show idea I\u2019ve been kicking around.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

McKay came into the first film fairly late in the pre-production game. The film had originally been developed by writer\/director Edgar Wright and his writing partner Joe Cornish over several years. Wright parted ways, amicably we’re told, with Marvel shortly before filming was set to begin over various “creative differences.” McKay stepped in to help mold the script more to the studio’s preferences, with the help of Rudd. All four were to receive screenplay credits while Wright and Cornish also received a “Story By” credit.<\/p>\n

Of course, McKay noted that he has a number of projects on his plate right now. The writer\/director is currently finishing up work on his drama on the financial crisis The Big Short<\/strong> which will be released next month. He is also producing director Louis Leterrier’s The Brothers Grimsby and the Melissa McCarthy comedy The Boss, both of which are due in 2016, as well as a comedy series being written by Casey Wilson and June Diane Raphael for the production shingle Gloria Sanchez which he shares with Will Ferrel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
