It came as a surprise when it was reported last week<\/a> that Sony Pictures was developing a sequel to 2011’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo but that it wouldn’t have that films stars, Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. And perhaps no one was more surprised than Mara herself.<\/p>\n

Speaking with E Online<\/a>, the actress who played anti-social computer hacker Lisbeth Salander, stated “As far as I know I’m doing it until someone tells me otherwise. I’m doing it unless someone tells me that I’m not \u2014 and then I still might do it.”<\/p>\n

Previously, Mara had expressed doubts that she would be returning to the role, but that was more born out of the fact that the film had not performed at the box office as well as the studio expected it to so a sequel was unlikely.<\/p>\n

While Sony had previously had been developing a sequel based on the second book of Swedish author Stieg Larsson\u2018s Millennium<\/strong> thriller series, The Girl Who Played With Fire<\/strong>, with screenwriter Steve Zaillian they have shifted gears and have recently hired Stephen Knight to adapt the fourth book in the series, and the first to not be written by the late Larsson, The Girl In The Spider’s Web<\/strong>. It is expected that once Knight turns in his draft producers Scott Rudin and Amy Pascal will begin casting. It has been previously reported that they are instead looking at Alicia Vikander to step into the role of Lisbeth.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
