\"McQuarrie-Cruise-Mission-Impossible\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I have always considered the Mission: Impossible<\/strong> franchise something of a director’s showcase. Each installment had a different master at its helm and that has helped to keep the twenty year old franchise from getting stale. But now Christopher McQuarrie, who helmed last summer’s fifth Mission: Impossible<\/strong> film Rogue Nation, will be breaking that mold as he is set to return for the franchise’s sixth installment, marking him as the first director to work on a second film in the franchise.<\/p>\n

The director confirmed his return via twitter earlier today.<\/p>\n

This turn of events doesn’t come as a complete shock. Despite the fact that franchise star and producer Tom Cruise has always wanted new blood in the director’s chair to change things up from film to film, he has developed a relations hip with McQuarrie since the two collaborated on the 2008 World War Two drama Valkyrie<\/strong>. The pair also worked together on 2012’s Jack Reacher<\/strong>. The two are also reteaming with Edge Of Tomorrow<\/strong> director Doug Limon on a sequel to that science-fiction film.<\/p>\n

As of now, Mission: Impossible 6<\/strong> is set to start filming next August, which means it may be Cruise’s next project after he completes his work on Universal’s The Mummy<\/strong>, which is set to start shooting early in the new year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
