\"Spotlight-cast\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Spotlight<\/strong> was the big winner at the 25th Gotham Independent Film Awards held last evening in New York City.<\/p>\n

The Tom McCarthy-directed drama about the team of Boston Globe<\/em> reporters who uncovered the priest child sexual abuse scandal in 2001 took home the awards for Best Picture and Best Screenplay,t he two categories that the film was nominated in. Spotlight also earned a special Gotham Jury Awards for the film’s ensemble cast which features Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber, John Slattery, Stanley Tucci and Brian D’Arcy James.<\/p>\n

Bel Powley won the Best Actress award for her work in Diary of A Teenage Girl<\/strong>, the film which topped the list of nominations announced in October<\/a>. Best Actor went to Paul Dano for his portrayal of the younger version of Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson in Love & Mercy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
