Joshua Oppenheimer\u2019s The Look Of Silence<\/strong>, the director’s follow up to his critically acclaimed 2012 documentary The Act Of Killing<\/strong>, took the Best Feature award at the 2015 International Documentary Association Awards yesterday. The film follows a man’s attempt to track down the men who killed his brother during the Indonesian anti-communist purges in the 1960s.<\/p>\n

The Look Of Silence<\/strong> faced some stiff competition in the form of its fellow nominees Amy<\/strong>, the film that looked at the life of late singer Amy Winehouse, Stanley Nelson\u2019s The Black Panthers: Vanguard Of The Revolution<\/strong>, Listen To Me Marlon<\/strong>, Stevan Riley\u2019s film built off of years of audio recordings of actor Marlon Brando, The Russian Woodpecker<\/strong> and What Happened, Miss Simone?<\/strong> about singer and activist Nina Simone.<\/p>\n

Listen To Me Marlon<\/strong>, The Russian Woodpecker<\/strong> and Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck<\/strong> didn’t go home empty-handed, however, as they won the Best Writing, Cinematography and Editing awards respectively.<\/p>\n
