A Star Wars<\/strong> move a year not enough for you? We may have some good news for you then.<\/p>\n

Elstree 1976<\/strong>, the documentary that takes an unauthorized look at the production of the original Star Wars<\/strong> films, has been picked up for US distribution by FilmRise. The title of the film is derived from the London studio where the first film and subsequent sequels were in-part shot as well as the year that it all began.<\/p>\n

The film is told through the eyes of a number of actors who were cast in small roles and as extras, and sounds like in addition to giving us a hitherto unseen look at the production of the films, it shows the impact that this small brush with cinematic history has impacted the lives of these actors. The interviewees range from those well known among fandom like Dave Prowse (Darth Vader) and Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) to lesser known names such as Pam Rose (Leesub Sirlin).<\/p>\n

Directed by Jon Spira, the film had its premier at the London film Festival last October. After the screening Spira, producer Hanks Starrs and actors Derek (Massassi Temple Guard\/Medal Bearer) Lyons and John (Red 12) Chapman all participated in a question and answer session, which you can see below.<\/p>\n

Currently, FilmRise is looking at releasing Elstree 1976 in May, a very traditional month for a Star Wars<\/strong> movie to be released.<\/p>\n
